Disadvantages of Star-adoration

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

People of each generation have their own idols. In 1970s, most students considered revolutionary martyrs as idols such as Dong Cunrui, Huang Jiguang etc. In 1980s, some great scientists such as Einstein, Edison etc were idols in students’ mind. However, the situation in modern world is quite different. Star seems to have been the symbol of fashion and success and they have great outlook, perfect figure and wonderful voice. As for revolutionary martyrs and scientists, students can learn Great Spirit and achievement from them. But what can they learn from those so-called super stars? But star-adoration seems to have become a trend.
According to some survey from 256 students investigated, we can clearly know the trend of star-adoration. Most of students’ idols are stars but few are artists or writers. Half students said that they liked stars but not very much but many students liked them very much. Some students’ has been badly affected because of star-adoration. Most students just liked stars’ beautiful outlook and great voice but they know little about their characters. Some students dye hair, smoke, fight etc to imitate those stars. What is worse, they think it is very cool. Students also spend much on star-adoration though they cannot earn money. They buy many discs, the items which are used by stars, etc. Students’ star-adoration is blindness and they should be lead in a right way to set up right life value.
How can we help students to establish right value? We should know why they are addict to star-adoration first. There are mainly two reasons. First, in the modern world, media technology develops rapidly and stars looks more beautiful on various Media after embellishment by media. Second, star-adoration is also related with their psychology. In order to fill the emotional vacuum, meet the herd mentality and pursue fashion, they adore those stars too much. In such case, parents and teachers should take the following pressures to help students set up right life value and live a healthy life style. Middle and high school students are rebellious so parents and teachers cannot force them to do what they do not want to do. Otherwise, expected results cannot be obtained. Firstly, teachers and parents should analyze problems from the standpoint of students then they can know more about students’ psychology. A mother went for shopping with her kid. She was very happy but her kid was always crying. When she bent down, she found that the kid could just see the legs of different people. Naturally, it was very boring from the standpoint of her kid. Secondly, many teachers and parents wish to get good instant results. Actually, they ought to lead kids in a right way gradually. Most students adore stars irrationally so adults cannot criticize their idols directly and they can consider give suggestions to students about star-adoration. Thirdly, everyone has the right to have idols. Students can consider stars as idols. If they are not addict to star-adoration, that is ok. Adults can help them analyze the advantages and advantages of star-adoration. In addition, teachers can organize some activities in the class to discuss the topic of star-adoration then students can become rational through communication.
