The premier from Australia Kevin Rudd warned Japan again on the 12th, Dec 2009 and he told Japanese people that if they still didn’t stop whale hunting, Australia would take legal actions to Japan. Actually, many countries including Australia have warned Japan but in vain. According to some statistics, Japanese people send ships to Antarctic waters and hunt more than 1000 whales every year and they hunt more and more year by year. Japanese government always claims that whale hunting is for research. Actually, whales are put into their plates for delicious food.
Japanese people have a kind of special sentiment to whales. Japan is an island nation surrounded by sea so they are used to eating marine animals. Japan is the leading country for whale hunting and they have the history of eating whales for more than 1300 years. Some Japanese ancient books write down dishes of whales. Half century ago, whales are the main source for Japanese people to get protein. Whale meat often can be found in students’ lunches offered by schools. Compared with beef and pork, whale meat can be got more easily. Japanese people not only eat whales, they also make use of the skin, whalebone, whale oil and other parts of whales. Some media in Australia ever reported that whale meat hamburgers can be found easily in many fast food restaurants and the shape is similar with beef hamburgers in McDonald’s. People can buy flesh whale meat which can be made Sushi in supermarkets in Tokyo and most whale meat is from Antarctic waters. In recent years, whale meat supply has decreased too much due to international community ban to whale hunting. As a result, the price of whale meat goes up a lot and Japanese people have stronger desire to hunt whales.
As for Japanese people’s despicable acts for whale hunting, many countries have expressed diplomatic protest and in the January of the year 2006, 17 countries including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium etc. combined and submitted diplomatic protest letter to Japanese government. However, after Japanese government got the protest letter, they said that they would not stop hunting whales and some Japanese officials said that they hunted whales in accordance with international rules and their aim was to research the ecosystem of whales.
Australia even claimed that they would sue Japan after failure of protest and Australia government sent a ship to follow a whaling fleet from Japan. They also took photos and videos of the whale hunting. Australia government thought that that was the great evidence to reveal despicable acts of Japan but no more news was heard afterwards. Many environmental organizations also involved into whale protection. In the year 2008, some people who from different countries, oppose whale hunting protected whales when 6 whaling fleets were chasing whales. A man from Greenpeace Organization said that they settled their hovercraft between whales and forks and he could even protect the whale with his own body.
The number of whales is still decreasing and they need more protection. As for whale hunting in Japan, the international community should take strong measures. After all, protest in written is far enough. If they really are doing research, where are the research journals? What new research has been produced? They need to quit hiding behind the laws and admit that they are just hunting the whales for food.

Agriculture, which is the main source of cereals, industrial materials, job opportunities and foreign exchanges, plays an important role in Southeast countries. They have made great achievement in agriculture but large areas of forest have been destroyed. In order to enlarge the area of crops, nearly all southeast countries hew down trees and destroy forest.
Since the Second World War, arable land in all Southeast countries has increased. Though the population has become lager, arable land per capita doesn’t decrease and it even increases in some countries. From the year 1980 to 1996, population in Cambodia increased from 6.4 million to 10.27 million and arable land per capita was up to 0.37 ha from 0.3 ha. The arable land per capita increased to 0.09 ha from 0.07 ha in Malaysia when the population increased from 13.76 million to 21.17 million. Philippine mainly developed agriculture by destroying forest before 1970s and in 1950s, arable land increased by 3.45% on average. In 1960s, the increase was 1.3%. Even Philippine tried to develop agriculture by destroying forest; they still couldn’t get great success because of the low productivity. Thailand also had the same mistake. Arable land increased from 41.4 million ha to 93.245 ha from the year 1950 to 1982 with the rate of 12.3% of national land to 29%. In 1990, arable land increased by 47.4%. Meanwhile, forest area decreased by 37.2% from the year 1951 to 1995.
Forest is a kind of renewable resource but the growth cycle needs some decades or even more than a hundred years. So the speed of growth is far behind that of human destroying. In fact, those countries have been punished by the results of deforestation. Soil has been washed away because of lack of protection from forest. Sediment deposition imposed bad effects on transportation and hydropower so people often can not get enough and stable electricity. Deforestation results in flood, drought and other natural disasters. Cambodia, located in the lower reaches of Mekong River, often suffers from flood if the rainfall is too much. At the end of 2000, terrible flood occurred in the country with 400 people lost and more than 1 billion dollars loss. In 2001, more than 108 people in Vietnam died from flood and the number of homeless people was more than 60,000. Forest decrease has reduced land fertility. In 1980s, 18 million ha land suffered from salinization in northeast part of Thailand and 260 ha land in south part suffered from salinization or acidification. Such phenomenon can be found in other Asian countries. Deforestation, at the same time, has destroyed biodiversity. Tropical rain forest, mangroves, wetlands and animals are on the brink of annihilation. In 1997, endangered birds take 11% in Indonesia, 24% in Philippine, 10% in Vietnam and 9% in Malaysia and Thailand.
In recent years, deforestation has decreased compared with that of before because most countries have realized the terrible result caused by deforestation. In addition, technology development also provides ways to improve productivity. However, deforestation still exists in the world and we have more work to do.

When we talk about elephant, we will associate it with beautiful ivory in high value. We even compare universities as beautiful “Ivory Tower”. Actually, elephants can help people do much work besides their priceless ivory. However, many kinds of animals are confronted with hunting and elephant is not the exception. Here we can focus on elephant hunting in Africa.
Since the year 2003, Africa has become the biggest market for ivory trading in excess of the ivory trade in Asia for the first time. Institution of Elephant Trade Information System and organization of Monitoring of Illegal of Elephant Hunting, for the first time, tried to systematically investigate buyers and sellers for ivory trading. They found that most African ivories were smuggled and wholesaled to Japan and some states in America near to Gulf of Mexico etc. After engraved, beautiful ivories were sold to those markets. But situation has changed since 2003. Various types of ivories could be found in African small markets. Organization of Monitoring of Illegal of Elephant Hunting revealed that the “hot spots” for elephant hunting were mainly located in East part of Congo, Cameroon, Central African Republic, the north part of Gabon, the south part of Chad etc. As for Nigeria, elephant hunting is particularly serious and ivory trading market in the country is quite large because the government can not offer strict control.
Elephant hunting is also very terrible in South Africa though there is Kruger National Park which is a wildlife protective zone with the best natural environment and the most kinds of animals in the world. The park has provided the paradise of rehabilitation for more than 140,000 African elephants. Those elephants are gradually eating up the whole park because of over-reproduction. In order to maintain the ecological balance, South African authorities have killed in a large number. During the year 1967, the number of elephants in Kruger increased up to 6500. The government started to kill elephants to control the growth at that time but the hunting was forced to stop because of strong protest from conservationists. In the year 2005, according to the report from the Times, South authorities planed to kill 7000 to 10000 elephants. Helicopters would drive them to a small and narrow place and rangers would shoot them by darts daubed with anesthetic. Then adult elephants would be killed by bullets and small ones would be removed to other protective zones. In the year 2008, the South African government also dismantled the laws of forbidding elephant killing. However, deliberate hunting was considered to be protested by conservationists again at time because they thought that elephant was a kind of gregarious animal with wisdom and sentiments and they had complicated social structure. If they were killed in large number, they would revenge human beings. Actually, conservationists’ anxiety is quite true. In 2007, a local man in Zambia and his two daughters were killed by elephants. Another woman and her daughter from England stayed in Zambia for holiday were crushed to death in the National Park.
Overproducing of elephant hunting would bring bad effects for human but deliberate elephant killing in a large number also causes unexpected results for human security.

The New Year was coming. Two boys with ragged clothes were opening car door for rich people in cold winter. It seemed that they were incompatible with the bustling city. The scene didn’t occur in novels but in the real world of Chengdu. Since the end of the 20th century, the number of street boys has increased too much. Street boys can not only be found in India and China, which are two big countries with large population but also can be found in other countries, especially those undergoing great changes in economy and politics. From 1980s to the beginning of the 21st century, we can find more and more street boys who beg, work or do other hard work.
Why so many kids have become street children? Actually, they should stay at home and enjoy the love from their parents. But the destiny gives them another life. There are several causes which change lovely kids into poor street children. Firstly, they are from poor families. We can find that most street children are from poor families and they have to drop out and earn money to support family though they are very young. Secondly, family is an important and indispensable part for kids’ growth. Divorce and family violence impose bad effect on children’s growth. So some kids have to leave home because they can not bear unharmonious family. Thirdly, street children can not get care from the society. They are neglected, discriminated and even maltreated by other people. However, some people also give a little money to street children because of compassion. But such kind of benefaction will result more and more street children. Fourthly, social security is not perfect. Most street children are from rural or poor regions where social security is far enough. If the government can provide enough social security for poor families, there will be no street children. After all, street children do have human dignity in others’ mind. Fifthly, government should publish favorable policies to supply assistance to street children. As for Help Station, the government can not offer reasonable education which is quite necessary for children.
Street children can also cause some social problems. For example, they may set up organizations to steal or rob other people. Different organizations consisted of street children from different regions also fight for domains. In addition, street children are made use of selling drugs by drug traffickers. In order to live in the world, they have to do that to get a little money though they do not know what they do is illegal.
In order to reduce the number of street children, government ought to take the following pressures. First, government should develop economy rapidly. If a country becomes rich, perfect assistance can be offered to street children. Second, functional departments have to perform their duties. Some departments often ignore their duties and Help Station seems to exist in name only. Third, perfect social security system should be set up as soon as possible. Many kids become street children because they are poor. In addition, disabled kids need social security more.

College students, as we all know, are those people who can accept higher education. And they are considered as rational and educated people. However, in recent years, college students’ crime occupies headlines of newspaper. A student from Tsinghua University poured drink with caustic soda and sulfuric acid to the body and the mouth of bears to verify the results of his experiment. Naturally, bears are terribly injured. Another student, from Yunnan University, killed 4 of his classmates who, like the killer, were also from poor families because he was discriminated by others. Ma Xiaoming, a student from a university in Tianjin, killed his father and grandmother after he was flunked out of school because he thought that after he committed suicide, his father and grandma would be very sad so he killed them. An investigation shows that in the year 1965, college students’ crime occupied 1% of the total criminal cases in the society. During the Cultural Revolution, the rate was up to 2.5%. In the recent years, the rate Jumped up to 17%. Why college students’ crime has occurred so much?
Firstly, many college students have strong desire for pleasure no matter they are from rich family or poor family. We can find few students study in the classroom but they can be easily found in restaurants, games hall, bar and other entertainment places. They also pursue expensive clothes, mobile phones, laptops and other items. What is worse, they have pathological psychology to compare those items which they can not afford. Some students are from poor families so they do not have enough money to buy those expensive items. In order to satisfy their vanity, they start to steal and even rob. According to some survey, 70% college students are put into prison for stealing. Secondly, many college students commit crimes because they are controlled by unhealthy sentiment. It is reported that 16% to 25.4% college students suffer from mental illness such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, neurasthenia etc. Some students bear much pressure because they are highly expected by parents. When they can not get relaxation, they would turn to commit crimes. Thirdly, college students are young people and they are impulsive. They are also easily beaten by failure. A student from Beijing, he intruded into girls’ dormitory with knife and imitation guns. He tied up the two girls and asked for money. But he even talked to the girls and helped them to call the police. Actually, he told police that he just wanted to seek relief after he was caught. He was an impulsive guy. Some other students are spoiled by families so when they are in difficulty, they are also likely to break laws.
If a college student commits crimes when they are at university, his life may be destroyed in future. That is not an exaggeration. Therefore, college students ought to set up healthy value for life. Universities should also offer psychology and law courses for students and teach them to struggle for ideals which can help them know the significance of life.

“Migrant workers” is an expression with Chinese characteristics. After all, China is a leading agricultural country in the world. After opening-up and reform since the year 1978, significant achievements can be found in many regions of China, especially in big cities. In order to live better life, many farmers move to cities for more job opportunities and improve their life. In the recent 2 decades, more and more farmers pour into cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shenzhen etc. Farmers’ arrival to cities makes great contributions to rapid development in cities but they also impose threat on social security because many of them commit crimes in cities.
Why do migrant workers take a risk to commit crimes? The following reasons can give us the explanation. Firstly, unreasonable household register system causes unfairness. China, since the ancient times, is a country with many discrepancies among people in different classes and such discrepancies can be found in living, clothes, eating etc. As for household register system, there are agricultural household registration for farmers including migrant farmers in rural regions and non-agricultural household registration for people in cities. The former group is always discriminated by the latter group. We can find that people belonging to the former group can just get hard work. Secondly, migrant workers are discriminated in many aspects. They can not get good jobs, good salary, enough welfare etc. and some even can not get pay. It is ever said that a migrant killed his boss because he couldn’t get his pay and he had no way out. Migrant workers also can not enjoy fairness from administrative justice. A guy from a rich family in Hang Zhou hit a poor guy to death and he gave bribe to officials and he finally escaped the lawful responsibilities he should deserve. Migrant workers’ children are also discriminated by the society. Government just supplies schools without good facilities and teachers. So many migrant workers send kids to good schools for study with high tuition. In addition, such discrimination will affect healthy growth for children. Though some children from rural regions live and study with kids from cities, they are still discriminated by others. This will cause psychological problem and crime occurrence is quite possible.
In order to keep social security, government ought to protect migrant workers’ rights and interests and the most important is to help hem get pay which they should get because their aim is to earn money in cities to support families. Sometimes, they can even kill those who can not pay them. Related government departments should enhance education for youth in cities and tell them that is not right to discriminate those people from rural regions.
As for migrant workers and social security, in the final analysis, fairness or unfairness is the root. If migrant workers can get fairness from the society, I think it is not necessary for us to worry about the social security. Otherwise, what will happen in future? Who knows?

Yunnan, a leader province for flower industry has been suffering from terrible drought since the end of the year 2009. And it is estimated that the drought will become more serious. Media report that the terrible meteorological drought has occurred in the past 50 years and 60% crops in Yunnan are destroyed because of water shortage. There are about 2,910,000 people and 1,480,000 large animals living without water supply. As for flower industry which is the leading industry in Yunnan, the loss is very large. More than 30% seedlings of “Big World of Flowers” have withered in Xiaoshao village, Guangdu district, Kunming city. Mortality rate of the first product named bougainvillea in over 50% in Shanhou village, Yiliang County. More than a hundred new varieties of seeds developed for years by flower garden of Kunming Yuhui Company have withered. 30,000 odd camellia and those flowers with local features in Chuxiong Dian-er Camellia Horticultural Company died.
According to the statistics surveyed, 80% flowers in Yunnan province has been destroyed until 29th, Feb, 2010. Flower disaster area has been up to 465,000 acreages with direct loss up to 8.54 billion RMB and 24,400 of the disaster area can not produce anything. Green nursery stocks have suffered from the drought up to 8.12 odd acreages with 3.82 billion RMB and the area of 10,200 acreages can not provide any products. 6, 5000 acreages of fresh cutting flowers have been damaged with 3.53 billion RMB and 9,800 acreages have been abandoned.
Four kinds of flowers are damaged too much including green nursery stocks, fresh cutting flowers, flowers with local features and flower seed. Since the autumn in the year 2009, facilities have been used for flower production to improve the ability to defense drought. However, flowers could not escape the disaster because the drought lasts for so long. At present, most seedling companies will not purchase new seeds any more. In order to supply enough water to high-value flowers, they have to give up those without many profits. In addition, fresh cutting flowers grow very slow with less production and low quality. Pests’ diseases such as red spider, bud worms etc also do harm to flowers more and more. We should also pay attention that flowers with local features, especially camellia, rhododendron and land planted woody flowers are mainly planted in the harder-hit area with 0.51 billion RMB loss.
Drought is going on. Compared with flower enterprises with advanced equipment, flower farmers suffer more because of poor facilities and incapability of drought defense. Many farmers get some water by digging wells and those living in mountain area have giving up planting flowers. Enterprises also depend on water from several wells because they can not get water from irrigation and they give up many flowers planting. Loss is increasing and many flower planting bases have reduced or even stopped production so they have to suffer order revocation and compensation because they can not supply flowers stipulated in contracts. Flower industry terribly destroyed by the drought can not return to normal in a short time. That means they will lose many regular customers.
Some survey reports that we can also find that facilities of flower industry are not so perfect through the drought disaster and enterprises also don’t have the sense to take precautions to defense drought, strong wind, and frost and so on.

According to the new statistics from Department of Human Resources and Social Security, there will be about 6,300,000 college students in the year 2010, increasing 190,000 people compared with that of 2009. And college students have more challenge to get a job.
In 2000, there were about 1,070,000 college students, 1,140,000 in 2001 and 1,450,000 in 2002. However, the number of college students was more than 2,000,000 up to 2,120,000. During the following years, the number increased 500,000 to 600,000 on average per year. In the year 2009, there were about 611 students graduating from universities, colleges etc. And the number is up to 6,300,000 this year. Department of Human Resources and Social Security says that 87% college students could find a job and they would try their best to help 70% college students get a job in 2010 when students graduate from schools and more than 80% students will find a job at the end of 2010. Considering the large number of college students and the level of working place, it is difficult to achieve the objective. After all, job-hunting is more difficult for college students compared with other groups for job-hunting.
Why it is so difficult for college students t find a job? Firstly, in the year, financial crisis forced many companies to lay off some employees and some enterprises also went bankrupt. Therefore, there are less work opportunities for college students. Secondly, many college students complain that their majors are not good after they graduate from school. For example, some students of liberal arts say that that they have learnt from school is theory but practice is more important for work. Actually, job-hunting can not just lie on major. Broadening knowledge and vision, improving the ability to analyze issues, strengthening the ability to adapt to the environment and possessing a positive attitude are crucial factors for college students. Thirdly, many students say that they do not have experience actually; they even do not have solid theoretical knowledge. Many companies including famous companies arrange recruitment every year at universities and they can offer many jobs. A human resource manager said that he ever asked some students about theoretical knowledge but they could not give right answers then he told them that even they had experience; the company would not recruit them. So lack of experience sometimes can’t be an excuse for difficult job-hunting. Fourthly, a large number do not have plan for career in future. Many companies pay much attention to employees’ career plan. Some human resource managers ask college students about the career plan when employees apply for a job. Some college students tell human resource manager the career plan which is not consistent with the position they apply for. Consequently, they can not be recruited absolutely. Fifthly, many college students ask for high salary at first. Actually, if employees do very well in working, they can ask for high salary. As for college students, they just graduate from school without any experience but they ask for high salary. We can imagine that no company would like to accept such employees. So they should get high pay through wonderful performance. After all, college students can be found everywhere.
As for difficult job-hunting, the government should take some pressures to offer more job opportunity. What’s more important, colleges students should set up a career plan and improve themselves all the time.

WHO has listed depression, AIDS and cancer as major diseases in the 21st century for prevention. Depression has become the first killer of physical and mental health for human beings in the century. Depression, known as depressive disorders or unipolar depression, is a mental illness characterized by a profound and persistent feeling of sadness or despair and a loss of interest things that once were pleasurable. Disturbance in sleep, appetite and mental processes are a common accompaniment. It is possible for everyone to suffer from depression. Depression is more than normal and temporary feeling of sadness and hopelessness associated with difficult events in life. Common symptoms of depression are as follows:
1. depressed mood
2. inability to enjoy activities
3. problems for concentration
4. poor memory
5. difficulty in making decisions
6. changes in eating habits
7. weight gain or weight loss
8. changes in sleeping habits
9. difficulty in working or taking care of daily responsibilities
10. feelings of guilt and hopelessness; doubting the value of life
11. slowed thoughts and words
12. preoccupation with thoughts of death or suicide
13. complaints about physical diseases such as headache, stomachache etc which are not real
Depression can be found in all age groups from baby, teenager, middle-aged to elderly people. If you suffer from depression, you are not alone. It is estimated that 15% people in America suffer from depression and 2%-5% even more in China. Women experience depression twice as often as men, although men are more likely to commit suicide as a result of depression. People with serious diseases are more likely to suffer from depression.
So how can we prevent suffering from depression? Firstly, get support from others . Some people are very sentimental with week character and they pay much attention to their health. When they are difficulty in work, interrelationship or they suffer from disease; they are prone to be depressed and pessimistic. As for such people, they should be release the sentiment of depression and get support from families or friends. Secondly, do sports as often as possible. Doing sports can consume body heat and improve physical fitness. When people are in depression, doing sports can help them get a sense of self-control then regain confidence. Thirdly, reasonable diet can keep people healthy in physiology and psychology. A report tells us that banana, melon and pineapple can help people prevent depression. Fourthly, as for those suffering slight depression, they can take some medicine to cure and prevent depression becoming worse.
When people have suffered from depression, they should remove it by the following points which are good for people to get rid of depression: 1. make a regular life plan 2. Keep clean in clothes and room 3. Never give up work and study even under depression 4. Offer generosity to others without anger 5. Learn new things actively 6. Dare to challenge and solve problems actively
7. Take reasonable action even for trifles 8. Develop more hobbies 9. Never compare with others about life 10. Write down wonderful experience 11. Never cover failure 12. Try to do something new 13. Contact energetic and optimistic people 14. Hold different attitudes to different people.

Accompanied by rapid economic and technological development, more and more electric equipments have entered into people’s life, for example, refrigerator which can keep food fresh. However, fluorine released by refrigerator terribly destructs ozone layer which can protect the creatures on the earth. Of course, ozone layer destruction also lies on other substances such as Halons, CTC, Methyl chloroform and Bromomethane and so on and so forth.
According to analysis from scientists, ozone layer destruction imposes the following bad effects on the earth. Firstly, harm to people’s health. As we all know, appropriate amount of UV is good for people’s health but if the amount is too large, people will suffer from some diseases such as cataract, skin cancer and destruction of immune system. Some analysis reports that if stratospheric ozone decreases 1%, incidence of cataract will increase by 0.6% to 0.8% and people losing their sight will increase 10000 to 15000 people all over the world. Ozone layer can prevent too much UV reaching on the earth to protect people’s health. But if ozone layer is damaged, much more UV absolutely reaches on the earth. Consequently, people will suffer from skin diseases, mainly skin cancer. And people with white skin have more chance to suffer from skin cancer because the white skin is lack of natural protection for sunlight. In addition, too much UV would change DNA in the cell and damage normal immune system. Secondly, harm to land plants. If UV reaches on the earth too much, plants can not get enough light and nutrients in photosynthesis and then slow down growth. Beside, excessive UV can change genetic in the cell and plant quality will not up to standard. If land plants are badly affected, we can imagine that the whole biosphere circle will be destroyed. Thirdly, harm to aquatic creatures. 30% animal protein of the world is from the sea. UV is harmful to many animals when they are at early developmental stages such as fish, shrimps, crab etc. and the worst point is that animals would suffer from fertility decline and larval hypoplasia. Phytoplankton also decreases because of UV. Phytoplankton plays an important role to absorb carbon dioxide which is the main source for greenhouse. that means if UV increases, the earth will suffer more from greenhouse. Fourthly, harm to urban environment and building materials. Too much UV can accelerate chemical reaction among different harmful emissions from factories and vehicles and pollution will become more terrible. UV also promotes materials ageing of building, package and cables and so on, especially in those regions with abundant sunlight and high temperature. Such destruction from UV can cause economic loss up to some billion dollars all over the world.
The above destruction caused by UV is estimated by scientists and if we want to get accurate results of destruction from UV, much more research and experiment have to be put into practice. Anyhow, the above bad results are indeed in front of us and all of us ought to try our best to reduce toxic emissions to protect our planet.

As we all know, 15th, March is the International Day for Protection Consumers’ Rights. The international day is first defined by the International Consumers Union Organization in 1983 to enhance propagation of consumers’ rights to which should be paid more attention and promote communication and cooperation of consumers all over the world to protect consumers’ rights more. Consumers’ rights mean that consumers enjoy rights during the time they purchase goods or service and within a certain period after purchase.
15th, March is the only day for consumers’’ rights protection but we ought to maintain our rights every day. After all, all of us are consumers in the society. As the economy develops rapidly and many enterprises are set up every day, more and more goods can be provided for consumers. However, consumers’ rights are often damaged because some manufactures supply fake and inferior products or can not offer after-sale service as what they have promised. Here take a few examples. HP is a famous brand all over the world and they supply laptop, printing machine, scanning and other consumables. Recently, some negative news about HP laptop was reported frequently on TV. Some buyers have bought laptops from HP but they are broken in a very short time. Ironically, leaders from HP said that cockroaches in the dormitory were too many so laptops were broken. In addition, some consumers asked for changing certain broken part or repairing for free but staff from HP told them that the broken part was not in maintenance range. As for LCD TV, Sony, Samsung, Sharp etc are well-known brands. One customer told journalist that her new Sony LCD TV was broken and the broken part was the monitor after 10 months. Then she asked for change. Unfortunately, the monitor was broken again 10 months later. When she went to Sony for change, the staff told her that they couldn’t change because the monitor was beyond the period of maintenance. Actually, Sony promised they can provide maintenance of main parts within 3 years. However, they said that monitor was not the main part. As we know, if TV can be considered without monitor, what can TV supply for consumers’ entertainment? So it is never overstated to think monitor as a main part. Other famous brands such as Samsung, sharp etc also play the same trick. Last year, many babies were killed by poisonous milk powder because manufacture seek for high profits and put Melamine into milk powder. In order to save cost, some decoration companies supply inferior decoration materials which are harmful to people’s health.
From examples above, we can see that consumers’ rights are ruthlessly trampled. Government ought to formulate laws to prevent and resist fake goods and seriously punish those counterfeiters. In addition, in order to protect their own rights, consumers should know that they own the following rights: safety rights, rights to know, option rights, fair trading rights, rights of indemnity, rights of education, rights of association, rights for respect of dignity and national customs and habits and rights of supervision.

Salary arrears is very common in China, especially in small and private enterprises. There are two meanings for salary arrears. First, some bosses delay paying for salary. In other words, some companies do not offer salary monthly. For example, many companies pay for the salary of January in February. Some pay on 5th, Feb, some pay on 10th, Feb and some even pay on the last day of February. What is worse, some companies can not pay for salary for months. Second, when some employees intend to leave their companies, many employers do not want to pay for salaries by various unreasonable excuses. We can often find atrocities from newspaper about salary arrears and some people even kill employers for retaliation.
Salary arrear is a kind of offense and government should take some effective pressures to protect employees’ rights to build harmonious society. First, those employers who delay or do not want to pay for salary deliberately should be severely punished. Law-makers should add salary arrears into criminal laws and ask those malicious employers to pay too much for their illegal behavior. Second, government should revise original labor laws about pay delay. If companies are in trouble, employers should hold a meeting to explain or 2/3 employees agree salary delay but employers can not delay too long. Third, government ought to improve penalty for employers if they delay salary and ask them to pay more to employees for compensation. Fourth, government should monitor labor relations between employees and employers. Employees and employers should sign legal contract so that employees’ rights can be protected. Fifth, law-makers should formulate some laws to allow Industrial and Commercial Administrative Department to restrict illegal behaviors. If some companies are found to delay salary, they will undergo revocation of license. Sixth, government ought to enhance propagation of labor laws and help some employers to realize the severe consequences if they delay employees’ salary. Seventh, as for terrible behavior about salary arrears, government should set up special system to solve the problem. Eighth, arbitrary and judicial authorities should handle cases of salary delay efficiently. Otherwise, some malicious employers will continue delaying salary without any fear. Tenthly, government officials ought to try their best to reduce and remove corruption. Eleventh, it is necessary for government to help enterprises change business model and improve productivity. After all, some enterprises delay salary because they can not get profits and they are not able to pay for salaries.
Manny people suffer from salary arrears, especially for workers. Nearly all workers in China are from poor families and meager salary is the only source for their life. They work about 12 hours a day and most just have one day-off a month. If their employers delay and reduce salary or even do not pay for them, they will turn to violence including killing their employers. After all, they live a hard life and they have no way out. In order to get salary, some workers beat, kidnap or even kill their employers. As a result, they are also arrested by police. What poor people! What a tragic for the society!

In order to escape reality, seek for excitement and get relaxation, many people are addicted to drugs. Drug abuse appeared thousands of years ago and it also can be found in modern society. People’s health in China was terribly destroyed in the Opium War 170 years ago and national strength was also weakened. So Chinese people were fear of drug abuse too much and government also took pressures to resist drug abuse. However, in recent years, more and more teenagers start to take drugs.
So why so many young people are addicted to drug abuse? Firstly, they are lured by those of the same age. Young people always pay much attention to peers’ ideas and if their peers say, if you do not try, you are a coward, and then they likely try to take drugs. In addition, young people are very curious about everything. Once they take drugs at the first time, they will take more in future. Secondly, young people like to pursue feelings of excitement. Teenagers are not as rational as adults and they pay more attention to feelings. They just like the feelings of walking on air but they never think about the serious results. Thirdly, families are lack of harmony. Many parents often quarrel and they do not care kids and ignore children’s feelings. Living in such family, children feel very lonely then they turn to drug abuse. Besides, single-parent families also adversely affect children’s growth. In order to support family, single-parent has to work hard and they spend too much time working. So their kids are prone to lured by ban men. Fourthly, school should also be responsible for youth drug abuse. First, some students suffer from stress without getting good grades and teachers also can not offer timely help. Second, some students can not be accepted by classmates at school then they play truant and turn to drugs. Third, teachers do have enough time to help “special students” who are bad students in others’ mind. Fourth, school can not offer proper and enough education about laws. Fifthly, drug traffickers always try to lure youth to take drugs to get high profits and laws at present are very loose. Then drug traffickers have more chance to sell drugs to youth and teenagers also have more chance to get drugs.
Drug abuse not only destroys young people’s health but also damages social harmony. So we should take some pressures to prevent and resist drugs abuse. First, parents should pay more attention to children’s growth and often communicate with kids. Second, government ought to propagate the disadvantages of drugs abuse and draft strict laws for drug abuse punishment. Third, school should care more about students’ behavior and supply more info about the danger of drug abuse. Fourth, government should set up special institute to cure those with drug addiction on both physiology and psychology. Actually, in order to avoid drug abuse, teenagers should learn to refuse drugs offered by drug traffickers and say no. They can even disclose criminals and help police to arrest them.

Peace is the common topic all over the world in the 21st century. Everybody longs for peace not war and everybody loves life but death. However, when we seek for peaceful life, many people are surrounded by continuous wars and death which comes to people without any warning and precursor. Iraq people and many soldiers from America are on the edge between life and death every day.
Continuous Iraq wars have brought great disasters to Iraq people. Firstly, wars nearly happen every day and people’s life will be lost at any time. Some children may be playing in the street and suddenly, a bomb explodes. Maybe many kids can not find their parents when they wake up. Some can witness their friends or relatives killed by bomb or bullet from somewhere. They never know what will happen at next moment. Secondly, wars cause Iraq to be an unstable country with terrible inflation up to 70%, high unemployment and high crime rates and so on and so forth. Most people in Iraq are very poor and tens of thousands of people are starved to death. Inflation in Iraq continues growing and it seems out of control. Because the society is in disorder and, transport routes for food and fuel are often attacked. As a result, prices for various goods rise too fast. Some TV programmer reports that many young people in Iraq do not have jobs and they play pokers for entertainment all day. In addition, they also do not dare to go out for work because their safety can not be protected. As for crimes in Iraq, people especially women I Iraq worry about their future too much. Iraq wars have taken countless men’s life and at present population of women occupy 60% of the total population in Iraq. In other words, families consisted of women suffer from robbery and rape at any time. Thirdly, more and more young people in Iraq may become terrorists because of Iraq wars. Wars have taken their happy life and they will be radical and hateful. Then terrorists will lure them by making use of their sentiment of hatred.
Iraq wars also have destroyed many American soldiers’ life. According to official statistics, at least 6256 American veterans committed suicide in 2005, which means that 17 veterans killed themselves every day on average. Since the Iraq war has broken out in 2003, about 3863 American soldiers died with 2.4 people for death every day on average. Some survey shows that suicide rate for ordinary people is 8.9 per hundred thousand but for veterans is more than 18.7 per hundred thousand. The suicide rate can be up to 22.9 per hundred thousand for veterans aging from 20 to 24. Data from US Department of Defense tells us that the number of army deserters is up to 4698 in 2007, increasing 80% compared with that of the year 2003. That improves that people are overburdened in mentality.
Iraq wars go against the topic of peace in the world. What is more, people’s life is seriously destroyed. Wars are still going on and lives are lost every day but people are at their wits’ end. What a tragic for human beings!

The European Space Agency recently published some latest photos taken by environmental observation satellites and they showed the collision of two Antarctic huge glaciers at the beginning of February. They are Glacier B-9B and Mertz iceberg tongue with 160km in the east part. The second largest glacier named C-28 comes into being after the collision. The size of C-28 is nearly equivalent to that of Luxembourg, with length 78km, width 39km and area 2500k㎡.C-28 means it is the 28th glacier separated from the part of Antarctic facing to Australia since the year 1976. B9B, with the same size as C-28 ,is also damaged after collision. And B9B is 8600 billion tons and C-28 is 7000 billion tons. Researchers from Antarctic Climate and Ecosystem Cooperative Research Center said that location of the two huge glaciers would affect local current loop and formation of ice and deep seawater.
What will happen in marine environment after the formation of C-28? Claire Parkinson, an expert for sea ice from NASA in USA thinks that C-28, a free floating glacier will influence all living creatures in the area. Predators’ emigration may cause unexpectedly changes for the whole marine ecosystem food chain. For example, the huge glacier will block the way that emperor penguins often go through. Neal Young, another sea-ice expert from Australia said that there was habitat place for emperor penguins about 300km away and seal within the area would not reach open waters. If the area is covered by ice, animals have to immigrate to other places for food. However, there is also a kind of positive idea. The holders think that glaciers play an important role in ecosystem. Scientists from America California University think that a large number of seabirds inhabit on the part of glacier above the sea and there are many phytoplankton, krill and fishes. Therefore, they consider the glacier as floating oasis for marine creatures.
Antarctic glaciers will cause the winter in Europe colder and colder. Scientists have made some researches and found that since the year 1957, backflow speed of cold water in deep-sea has decreased obviously and it decreased faster from 1992. Nowadays, flow rate of the north Atlantic warm current has declined 31% compared with that of 50 years before, which means the temperature in the north Atlantic and continent nearby will go down. That is why it will become colder and colder in winter in Europe. And greenhouse effect is the source for flow rate decreasing of the north Atlantic warm current. It is worth mentioning that glaciers in Atlantic only occupy 9% of the total glaciers on the earth and most are on the Greenland. The rest 90% are on Antarctica and if glacier in Antarctica melts, it will be colder and colder in the winter of Europe.
In the past ten years, ice had not increased too much and glaciers may collapse at any time. Scientists have made a model for glaciers changing observation. If there is difference between the model and reality, we can just think the model with more optimism. Maybe disappearance of Antarctic glaciers comes earlier than expected.
